Das Nahrungsspektrum und Nahrungsverhalten von Amazona finschi wurde mittels Freilandbeobachtungen einer ziemlich ausführlichen Analyse unterzogen (Renton, 2001). 36 Pflanzenarten aus 15 Pflanzenfamilien werden von Amazona finschi genutzt. Allein die Befassung mit den Bestandteilen der Freilandnahrung dieser einzigen Art, den Inhaltsstoffen und sekundären Pflanzenstoffen sowie deren möglichem Nutzen oder Schaden stellt einen Riesenaufwand dar. Zur Verdeutlichung der Komplexität der Gesamtthematik habe ich Euch mal nachstehend die betreffenden Nahrungspflanzen mit Zuordnung der Pflanzenfamilie (und wo schon von uns ermittelt) die sekundären Pflanzenstoffe der jeweiligen Pflanze gelistet. Die Reihenfolge ist: Pflanzenspezies, Pflanzenfamilie, davon genutzte Teile, enthaltene Sekundärstoffe.
